October 04, 2006

I'm sorry: I clearly neglected elgg. I just put some feeds in the "my resources" page, and left it there.

Now I'm back!

We have been working on elgg quite a lot at work http://www.keilab.it and http://www.socialmedialab.it/

Using rosetta (great tool) we completed the italian translation, and we are working on some plans to integrate elgg with twiki and scuttle to create yet another intranet application. If we manage to turn it on something releaseable you will be the first to know.

I've also changed the theme a bit, and put it back here on elgg. Hope you like it in green!

Wierd mafia marriage

We went inside this museum in budapest… it was rented for the wedding of a local mafia man, we think…

At the door there were armed men, then huge gorillas (they looked like overweight retired russian boxers)… some 20 waiters were employed and a band playing some mandolin music…

Of course we all love Apple products (apart from that mightymouse).

But it looks like there’s lots of poison in the Apple laptops and products they currently sell: more than average toxic waste is produced when you dump with pain and sorrow your dead iMac or iBook or iWhatever.

So the nice folks at greenpeace did some CSS stealing and set up a website - spoof (very well done) to sign a petition to ask our favourite hippie-CEO-millionaire to be a pioneer in greener computers too.

Please go out there and sign it!

lfjesus.jpg

Everyone has a different take on Jesus. Muslims saw him as a prophet. Buddhists say he was enlightened. Hindus consider him an avatar (the incarnation of a deity in human form), while Christians hail him as the Son of God. But, wherever your theological compass points, you will agree that this is the coolest action figure ever made.

There’s a quite big market for this kind of things… For example, one could shop at the Jesus Christ Superstore, whose aim is to “put the fun back into fundamentalism, abd the laughter into sectarian slaughter”… Or, you can drop by at Jesus of the week 2006 and see all kind of jesuses, or even submit your own best Jesus Picture.

Or you can go wider with action figures from all the Old Testament.

The masterpiece however remains this video on google video….

Flickr just added an easy (and fun) system to add geographic information on the pictures you take. It works, and it’s really a great feature.

go see for yourselves: have a look at my map.

(note: i need to get out of europe, at least once!)

I don’t like Red Bull: the drink, I mean. It’s liquid chewing-gum.

But I do agree the guy who invented it decided to go crazy and pull out some cool things. Like this one: http://www.redbullairrace.com/. Have a look at the official video too… It’s… crazy.

It was the highlight of St.Stephan’s day when we were in Budapest (then a strong storm came, trees were torn apart and tiles fell from the rooftops, killing people).

we were in a restaurant. Got in when the sky was clear, we got out when it was over: it still was impressive.

Cycling for 400kms on flat terrain at 10km/hour might not sound like supersporty, but It was quite a challenge for us! :D

Anyway, it’s a trip i really recommend. Just bring some extra tyres and prepare to eat some fried food. Hungarians seem to like frying everything.

More pictures on this set on flickr.
