Well, I don't really do a lot of blogging, but I do have lots of blogs! I guess there has to be a purpose for me...I like discussion rather than soapbox pronouncements, so my interest in elgg is the community side. What sort of discussion or collaboration can develop on a site like this? I'll just have to see how much I really need to post blogs as part of that.
I prefer to keep my own private journal off the web, but I'm interested in getting my students to journal/blog as part of a community, and have used LiveJournal for this. elgg might be an alternative that provides a greater range of pedagogical tools, so we can go beyond just journalling.
