Who am I?
I am originally from Northumberland, in the North East of England.
Previous employment has included managing a nationally important breeding colony of Arctic and Little Terns. It required enthusiasm, dedication and hard work, as for four months I lived and worked seven days a week on a remote northern beach
Last summer I volunteered for five months in the Mountains of Northern Greece. This primarily involved systematic scientific surveys of this remote region by foot and in off-road vehicle using GPS, collecting evidence in the form of tracks and markings, in order to aid the investigation of the Brown Bear Distribution in Greece.
As well as this, we participated in radio tracking of tagged bears, surveying of other forms of wildlife (mammals, birds), and undertook a regional census of White Stork populations as part of the 6th international census of the species. I also worked in the Bear Sanctuary, to provide guided tours in English and help out at the gift shop.
Alongside this and other casual voluntary work with the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers and the National Trust, I have a range of other skills gained from temporary employment in shops, offices and pubs.
Currently, I'm based in Edinburgh.
