This is the motto from the webpage co2quota.org - this is the brilliant idea of Gorm Larsen and partners, which urges ordinary people to buy co2 quotas that will never be used. You buy it to prevent large corporations from doing this. If for instance the Danish people start use less electricity, one might think that the winner will be the climate...this is also somewhat true, but the big winner is the power company who can now sell their non-used co2 to others...so basically you are saving power to help the climate and in return you just give your power company money, as they earn from selling the non-used quotas to others....

But now you can do something about that - buy up the co2 quotas, so that they cannot be traded by companies...I think this is a great idea and I have bought two tons so far - I can only urge others to do the same!!!

I am currently struggling hard to finish my thesis, but at the same time a lot of things always come up. Friday the 20th I was in Copenhagen and attended a small seminar for various people from the Unions; they were discussing how to go about knowledge sharing and knowledge management, so Lone Dirckinck-Holmfeld (professor) and I gave some inspirational presentations about knowledge sharing and knowledge management. I specifically talked about how social software, web 2.0 thinking and systems like Elgg could be used to support knowledge sharing in organisations, as I think this gives some other opportunities than ordinary walled gardens, material databases or closed discussion forums. Anyway, the presentation is available here: AOF presentation - Forskellige modeller og systemer for videndeling [application/vnd.ms-powerpoint]

Then on the 24th I returned to Copenhagen to attend a conference on "Digital media and pedagogy" where I attended some interesting sessions, but also had the chance to present something about social software and networked learning. There was a representative from Fronter who told a bit about their future plans, which involved thoughts on "personal learning environments" PLE's and how the system would be structured around 'personal desktops' - needless to say, I was happy to be able to present elgg and eduspaces, as frontrunners for such ways of designing learning systems. The presentation can be found here (Danish): Presentation DPU - Social software og sociale medier i netværkslæring [application/vnd.ms-powerpoint]

And later I will put up a link for the video that was recorded and will be streamed. Here I introduce Elgg through showing the capabilities of eduspaces.net. Elgg itself is only briefly mentioned in the slides. Now, back to writing the thesis!
