PhDCommunity :: Blog :: Hi all! (Ni Hao!)

October 21, 2005

Hello, my name is Zinan! I am in the 2nd year of my Master at University of Saskatchewan, Canada, working on connecting e-portfolios and learner models in ITS/ALEs. After reading several previous posts and comments, I would like to add something from my perspective. Have you ever had a dream come true? Right, finishing a PHD was my dream when I was at elementary school, because I thought if I had a PHD, I will know more than my teacher so that I can be the teacher (I hate school at that time). After all these years, I 've changed my mind, because my current supervisor Prof. Jim Greer is a distinguished graduate supervisor, I wish I could become a good man just like him, and teach more students like me, and to clean up the dirty news(I have heard enough negative and funny story acorss the schools, not all the profs are worth respect). Of course I have my research goal to work on, I hope I can make some effort for achieving personalized learning through e-portfolios.

BTW, I am sorry I can't speak fluent English(an obstacle for me to pursue a PHD), but I am smart enough to talk with you adults! :)

Keywords: dream, good supervisor, PHD

  1. Welcome Zinan!

Your English is great - better than my German (which I studied for 5 years)... What language is "Ni Hao"?

Looking forward to hearing about your progress.

  2. Thanks Kim! "Ni Hao" means "Hello" in Chinese, probably the most popular word that is known by English people! :)
