We apologise for silence on the news blog. This is due to the development team working flat out to get the next Elgg release ready to go.
It will be worth it. The system has had a big overhaul and, we feel, this will significantly improved usability. Look out for the new release Sept 26th!

We've now installed Elgg 0.3 on Elgg.net and reverted everyone to the new default template.
The new theme system means that you MUST alter your old themes before you can use them again. Failure to do this may temporarily lock you out of the system. (NB: We have made some public themes available. These have been changed for the new system and are safe to use.)
You must edit your theme. To do this, click 'account settings' in the top menu, and click 'edit' on the theme of your choice. Then perform the following tasks - you may wish to print this out:
A. 'CONTENT HOLDER':
1. Copy the contents of 'Information Box' into 'Content Holder'
2. Change {{name}} to {{title}}, {{content}} to {{body}}
3. Add {{submenu}} just above {{body}}
B. 'PAGE SHELL':
1. In 'page shell', add {{topmenu}} directly after {{menu}}
C. 'SELECTED INDIVIDUAL MAIN MENU ITEM':
1. Copy 'individual main menu item' to 'SELECTED individual menu item'
D. 'STATUS MENUBAR SHELL':
1. Copy 'main menu shell' to 'status menubar shell'
2. Replace {{menuitems}} in the status menubar shell with {{topmenuitems}}
3. Copy 'individual main menu item' to 'individual status menu item'

As you will see everything has changed on elgg.net - this is the result of great user feedback so thanks to all who contributed.
Unfortunately this does mean some of you will need to amend your old themes if you want them to work with the new structure. Here is the code to do this:

We realise that some of you may be hankering after your old theme. For this reason we have revamped some of the most popular old themes. If you have a problem with any of them please let us know.
To get to themes you need to go to: 'Account settings' then 'Change theme' - 'Account settings can found top right of your screen.
