The logo competition has been and gone, and the winner is:

By the design group the Free Radicals. We feel this reflects the system best, and you'll start to see this unified look on all our pages and information packs.

It was a difficult decision - we received many fantastic submissions, for which we must thank you all.

Congratulations to the Free Radicals, and thanks again for all your hard work. We'll showcase the runners up in a later post.

Today we have opened up the Elgg store where a few items are for sale. All profits made will be going to ActionAid.

On the request of a couple of people we have also set up a way for those that wish to donate to Elgg to do so, see the donations page.

Dave was in Denmark yesterday, August 15th, presenting Elgg and pervasive computing (the presentation will be available shortly). This trip was a success and it looks like Elgg will be working in collaboration with a couple of different organisations in Denmark. Watch this space.

Thank you to Jesper Hundebøl and Jacob Vind for their hard work organising the day.

We are delighted to announce that Elgg now has a world-class advisory board. We feel privileged to be able to call upon and work with some of the leading figures in educational technology.

The advisory board's extensive expertise ranges from the pedagogical to the technological, and as such it is equipped to play a central role in shaping the future direction of Elgg.

The advisory board members are:
George Siemens
James Farmer
Sebastian Paquet
Misja Hoebe
Leonard Lin
Scott Wilson
You can find out more about each member on the people page.

[update - we now have another board member. Jeremy Hiebert has joined the Elgg advisory board and will bring a wealth of good ideas to the table, we look forward to working with him]

This new academic year is shaping up to be an interesting time for Elgg. We have a handful of good sized pilots launching in this first semester which is great news. This will allow the Elgg team to gather useful data on such things as usability, usage, pedagogical impact, improvements required etc.

This data will influence the future direction of Elgg as well as other tools of this type.

If you are running an Elgg pilot and are willing to share some of your findings with the Elgg team and the wider community please get in touch. All contributions will play an important part in shaping these learning tools.
