i hoope i got the right guy, and you don't mind a question about elgg.

first, i am a teacher in a western australian high school. been around a while. thought i would really like to get some kids blogging.

elgg looks the goods.

i notice you also are on to another western australian contribution to the open source community, moodle. i run a moodle site at [Click to view link] i thought i would also like to run a blogger at [Click to view link]

unfortunately, the vagueries of php and site hosting have defeated me for the moment. here is the error message

Warning: open_basedir restriction in effect. File is in wrong directory in /home/httpd/vhosts/numbatconspiracy.com/httpdocs/elgg/units/engine/main.php

at the risk of teaching you to suck eggs, here is an explanation,
perhaps

here is what moodle told me

and i guess i could try and write a vhosts.conf file, except i don't
know what one is and my conf directory is forbidden.

if it is not too much trouble, could you concider this problem. maybe a
small change in your set up code.

labdien lurkers

i am far from a php guru, in fact am chuffed when i get the "hello world" thing happening.

i tried to load elgg onto my server where i had purchased web space and the thing gave me some base file error message.

be a fan of moodle, i found it installed first time, from an install script, and issues like whether safe mode where on or off didn't seem to be an issue.

i was just wondering if there were some set of standards when writing open source syuff so such problems are negated.
