Anyone else working with Flash and XML out there? Thoughts on the issue?

I just discovered XML a few months ago and with the zeal of the newly converted I want to use it for everything. I used to work with either text files or php/coldfusion to pass dynamic data into a Flash movie, which was clunky and unwieldly. I mean, IMHO, unless you are working with a very large pool of data, databases are really more trouble than they are worth. With xml, however, i get to design a very readable file which flows efficiently into flash arrays. I should have discovered this sooner.

I noticed that many users out there have a passion for the web and multimedia, but there did not seem to be a community dedicated to online design and development. Well, here it is. I hope to meet other designers and exchange ideas about development strategies in the educational context. I am also curious as to what other educators and developers are doing online, and how they are tackling issues of community as well as interactivity, simulations and the role of gaming in education.
I look forward to "meeting" you :) Keywords: actionscript, animation, audio, coldfusion, community, css, development, digital storytelling, dynamic, e-learning, education, Flash, gaming, html, immersive, interactive, intro, java, learning object, media, mp3, multimedia, mysql, online, php, simulation, sql, streaming, video, web, xhtml Posted by Multimedia Development - David J | 7 comment(s) |
