Multimedia Presentation

For this assignment we had to create a "how to" presentation using Microsoft Power Point. The presentation had to consist of at least 8 frames. Each frame had to include at least one text box and one graphic, along with sound or movies. For my assignment I used graphics found on the internet, my own original text, the audio clips avaliable on Power Point and links that directed the presentation to YOUTUBE. After completing the presentation and reflective writing, we had to present our work to our class and upload the file here and create this blog.

Design a Simple Webpage

For this assignment I had to design a simple webpage incorporating my virtual library. I searched for images to compliment my virtual library on google. I created two webpages and linked them together.

My first page is a title page that gives the name of my sight, the purpose of my sight and what information is avaliable by following the links in my virtual library. The title page also has a few images and a very cute graphic to catch the attention of those looking at it.

My second page has images and my virtual library links. I set the page up as a table because I found it easier to navigate and more pleaseing to look at that way. Each link has its own block of the table along with an explaination of what is avaliable at that site and an image to catch the attention of those viewing the site.

Virtual Library

For this assignment i had to formulate a virtual library. I had to use a search engine to find various sites that would work as educational research tools. I had to make sure they were actual sites and not directories or school-related sites. After finding five acceptable sites I had to evaluate their content. I used three different forms to evaluate the sites, each based on the appropriate grade level. I evaluated one site that would be most helpful to a secondary student/teacher and two each for elementary and middle school. After completing the evaluations I uploaded them onto this site and created this blog.

Scanning Assignment

For this assignment we had to scan a photograph or picture from a book. We saved the picture as a .jpg file. We then had to alter the picture in some way. Perhaps by adding text, changing the tone, color scheme, etc. We then saved the altered picture as a .jpg as well. Then we had to add the altered picture to our files on this profile. We were supposed to then write our reflective writing piece, explaining how the picture could be used in a lesson and exactly how to alter the picture.

Software Evaluation

For this assignement, I evaluated two software packages meant for educational use. The two software packages I evaluated were Neighborhood Map Machine by Tom Snyder and Logal's Biology by Logal Software Inc.

I first opened the software package and explored it. I was looking specifically for any signs of bias, ease of use, cohesive and correct material and exactly what was available on it. I then opened the teachers manual or read me file to see if I could manipulate the software in a different manner as an instructor rather than a student. I was hoping that there was some sort of assessment available to test whether or not the student had learned what the software claimed to teach.

After thoughroughly exploring the students and instructors sides of the software, I comepleted a software evaluation form and created my reflective writing. Like with the previous assignment I saved the evaluation forms and reflective writing to my flash drive. In order to ensure the evaluation forms could be viewed on my digital portfolio I saved the files in .rtf format. This ensures that any wordprocessor, regardless of make or version, can open the files. I then created a new folder on my digital portfolio and uploaded my two evaluations into it. To complete this assignment I posted this blog.

Micro Grade

For this assignment we were introduced to a grade management software called micrograde. This software is relatively easy to use and in my opinion, better than excel for grade management.

We had to create a ficticious class for this assignment. We set class standards, catagories and assignments and then we added students and assigned grades. We then printed out a class roster that we sorted by last name, along with an individual student summary and a class grade book. Next we had to do a reflective writing piece about this assignment.

The last part of this assignment was to save our work in HTML format and add an assignment folder to this account and finally to create this blog about it!
