I teach at Fort McCoy (combined elementary/middle) and we are planning a student research project to learn about experience of attending college. An additional focus is making connections between our middle and elementary schools (mentoring based programŠ. 8th graders mentoring 5th). We are going to have a field trip to UF as a culminating project Š. arranging short tours of various UF departments, a talk from financial aid, dorm tour, Rietz union, athlete lunch, panel of undergrads to answer questions. We would like to make a short video to document our culminating experience at UFŠ.. so that our school and other schools can reap the benefits. Would you have any upper level undergrads or a grad student in any of your classes (Ed technology, art ed, IDS whatever) who would like to come on board and help our students with this process. Either independently or working with /mentoring a couple of our 8th graders. Although we our in Marion countyŠ we could easily figure out a way to do it without burdening a student with travel (I actually live in Gville) and probably the bulk of our dilemma is how to capture the UF field trip experience with something approaching production level video recording/editing.
