The National College of Education of National-Louis University is pleased to announce its search for Assistant/Associate Professor, Interdisciplinary Studies in Curriculum and Instruction and solicits nominations and expressions of interest. National College of Education is one of the largest colleges of education in the country with dynamic programs serving diverse learners. NCE is NCATE-accredited.

We are seeking a colleague with an earned doctorate in education or a related field, with a plan for active scholarship and research, active commitment to diversity, and readiness to be actively involved in partner schools. Experience in K-12 classroom teaching, college-level teaching, and use of technology to enhance student learning are preferred. The ideal candidate will have background in teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and/or in the field of Reading. Colleagues at NCE are dynamic, dedicated and talented. The candidate should demonstrate potential for:

teaching in a program that involves working successfully with classroom teachers from diverse settings over a time period of 22 months,
collaborating with colleagues in a widely dispersed but interdependent departmental setting, o    implementing a research agenda,
establishing relationships with K-12 schools, and
participating in college and university governance.

The position is based in the Tampa (FL) area and may require travel to other locations in the state and occasional trips to Chicago and/or Wisconsin. The college also includes a growing international outreach effort and focus on education in urban environments. The department of Integrated Studies in Teaching, Technology and Inquiry includes two programs: Interdisciplinary Studies in Curriculum and Instruction (IDS), and Technology in Education (TIE). With 28 faculty, the department offers graduate degrees. The IDS program is a progressive, innovative generalist master’s program for experienced
K-12 teachers. Faculty in this field-based program work closely with small intact groups of classroom teachers offering a progressive, integrated, two-year curriculum stressing classroom-based action research, teacher reflection, cross-cultural understandings, and a concern with issues of social justice.
