Hi Josie-- My name's Ted Curran, a digital design teacher in San Francisco. I am writing my thesis on blogging and social networking as a tool for student literacy and social voice for marginalized students. You seem to be an expert on the subject-- I was reading your blog on the subject and was wondering what you'd think about the power of digital literacy to help students acquire basic literacy. I work in a high tech urban charter high school where a large population of our students come in with low skills in reading, writing, and math. I want to explore the power of blogging as a way for students to become content producers-- collecting the best of what they find on the web, thinking critically about it, discussing it, and basically serving as the curators and docents of an interactive museum online. I want their work to be publicly available so their work can authentically participate in the ongoing social dialogue that is happening on the internet around the major issues of our day. I don't know if this overlaps with what you study, but I wanted to see if you have any thoughts on all this! =] All the best- Ted
