Salma, for her personal blog. You were also the only person this week to make a comment to another student's personal blog posting (Naimul on Sept 4).

I enjoyed reading your posts this week. You have been very prolific and I can see you are starting to use this blog not only to record work but also to reflect on your work. I encourage more discussion and less description, more self-introspection (look this up) and less trying to complete each task set in class.

On Sept 6 you wrote:

"I opened the wiki page for encryption and then with Ms Lindsays help i linked important key words as well as the websites, the work cited bit. It was a hassle but at the end of the day it looked better. I worked on spaces between each paragraph because from my experience and perception it is boring to read long texts. I didnt quite finish on linking the important key words to web deifinations. I will do them soon when i get home and get them done before sundays class."

On Sept 5 you wrote:

"Today in class, we were working on 'authentication' as well as editing our profle page linking out del.icio.us favorite page. In that way our peers can share our favorites and share information we obtained for this new task. In that way we interact digitally and by sharing information we can gain a better knowlegde of the topic and like they say 'think out of the box rather than inside the box'."

Keep blogging!

Last week we had the "Apple in Education" roadshow at ISD. They presented the latest and greatest Apple products for a ubiquitous and Web2.0 school program.

Until this year our laptop initiative has not included Apple Macintosh devices, but now already this year we have 8 MacBooks in the school belonging to teachers and students. Our IT Support department were a little nervous workign out how to configure them to our netork and to the WLAN, but all problems seem to have been resolved.

Respond to this post and tell me what you know and have found out this week about Mac compared with other laptops. Whay are we now allowing these 'foreigners' on campus? What are the main similarities? What are the differences? Which do you prefer? Would like to own? Why?? Please hyperlink to resources (websites, blog postings, ratings, etc) to support your ideas and arguments

As part of our investigations this week you should be looking into the development of Open Source Software. Read the Wikipedia entry on FOSS. Search for OS software that might be useful to you. Check out my Open Source bookmarks as a starting point.

As a reponse to this posting, comment on one Open Source application that is widely used and available. Have you used it? How? When? Why?

There were a diverse collection of blog postings this week. I am pleased to see more interaction developing between those in the class who are blogging. I am also pleased to see you using hyperlinks and commenting on your tasks and progress.

For this week I was particulalry impressed with Atif. Although his contribution is a little smaller than some he has a very positive approach to this social interaction as seen by his comment to Cannelle's blog:

"A lot of detail is in your posts which is very good. I think that you have one of the best blogs out of our community. Good Job."

Well done Atif.

For the last day of September I am squeezing in one more 'Blogger of the Week' award. Congratulations to Cannelle for her excellent efforts in ITGS with blogging. She came to this class 3 weeks late but has managed to work hard and make a considerable contribution to the blogs and to our ITGS wiki page. I am also impressed with Cannelle as she is able to find time to repond to other students and keeps an eye on what the rest of the class are blogging about. Well done Cannelle. you are truly a solid example of an online learning student.

(Just one tip, try to tag your blog posts with ITGS and other keywords)
