Ian MacLeod

Who am I?

Currently a member of the Computer Technologies faculty at the Institute of Technology campus of the Nova Scotia Community College, I have an interest in systems analysis and design, object-oriented programming, and database design.

I firmly believe that the use of problem-based learning in a collaborative, team-based environment creates the most effective learning environments for IT education, and that competency-based assessment and the extensive use of rubrics provides learners with the best opportunities for success.

I am actively involved in researching the use of Web 2.0 and other social and collaborative technologies in my learning environments and the use of virtualization and virtual environments as educational tools.

You can find me in Second Life as several of us at NSCC are currently exploring this MUVEE as a learning environment.

NSCC is a portfolio college and e-portfolio development is a powerful learning tool for faculty, staff, and learners.
