I read with some interest Jim Gee's article What Would a State of the Art Instructional Video Game Look Like?. Is it just me or is what he is suggesting just activity based education with a twist? The game provides a world to do the activities, and perhaps faster feedback to the learner; but how is using a game any different?
Hopfully further investigation will provide answers.

I recent read "The World is Flat" by Thomas L. Friedman. The book really made me think about where I will fit in in a flat world. I decided that I am what Friedman calls a "flexible" person. According to Friedman a flexible person can retrain themsselves quickly as required by changing economic conditions.
I am a constant student. As a software developer, I'm constantly studying new technologies in addition I have number of personal scholarly pursuits.

Eventually, I came to the conclusion that despite working in a distance education department, I really know little about distance and online education. Thus the reason for this particular journey. This blog and associated resources will record my journey.
