Elina Lampert Shepel, a former Dean of the School of Education at Eureka University
(Moscow, Russia), is currently Assistant Professor of Education at Mercy College Graduate School of Education, New Teacher Residency Program. As a Vygotskian scholar, Elina coordinated the research, development and implementation of teacher education program based on the principles of Vygotsky’s cultural-historical concept and activity theory at Eureka University. As a member of a distinguished group of Russian Vygotskian scholars, she worked on the implementation of Elkonin-Davydov curriculum in regular public schools. She worked as a teacher educator internationally, establishing the dialogue among innovative educational communities. She has recently conducted cross-cultural research on teachers’ reflective actions in Russian and American Dewey schools.
