It is for announcing new Elgg sites. You are not subscribed by default, as you are in the main ones. It is at http://elgg.org/myelggsite . You can find more communities to subscribe there at the Browse link behind the search box, at the communities link.

Well, we have just started building our own social network at CICEI, based on Elgg and being about "Society and Tecnology" (in Spanish). We are just newbyes in all this stuff, so we have a lot to learn about Elgg, specially about the good plugins it has. We are very happy about the new design of the Elgg Suppot System, but find it still a bit confusing.
We are also very interested in integrating Elgg with our Course server, based on Moodle, so, we will attend the Elgg keynote on Moodle07 Conference. I hope that would be a better howto than the one you find in google.
By the way, there is a better place to talk about Elgg support for administrators, just as a part of the Elgg support system at elgg.org .
I would use this Community just to announce new Elgg sites.

Hi all, Just set up a new elgg website at DoggyBloggy.com. Check it out and let me know what you think. I am running a dev version of .70 and am very excited about it.
A little background is that I launched this site a couple of years ago after becoming very successful with a xoops community site for dachshunds, called The Hotdog Blog! I wanted to try to recreate that for a larger audience of dog lovers generally.
It turned out that Xoops was not ideal for managing a community of diverse dog-related interests. Sounds unlikely, right? But while dog lovers like all other dog lovers, they really want to hang with their own breeds. . xoops has no feature to allow for such simple segregation (tags) and member community construction (breed or topic specific communities/blogs with memberships).
Oh, I should also say that I had a brief interlude with Wordpress MU which would have been ok for a standard blog hosting service for dog lovers but doesn't provide any of the rich social networking features of elgg.
I have big hopes for this site. . when comparing it to other leaders in my niche, like dogster, there is so much more to elgg in a cleaner, more professional format.

I didn't see a place for Elgg webmasters to announce their sites to the wider elgg community and the web at large, so I thought I would start a community and see where it goes.
I envision this to be a place for webmasters using elgg to discuss and share with each other the various ways that they are using elgg. It could go anywhere though, just not support or feature requests. There are official forums for that, but certainly anything elgg is probably ok.
