soc211 poverty and hunger :: Blog :: Finland vs. US on Poverty and Hunger

November 20, 2005

I agree with Christina. I found the same statistics on Finland, but they were difficult to find for Finland. I thought it was excellent that Finland had one of the lowest poverty rates for children in the world. The U.S. has one of the highest rates of poverty for children in the world.

I think that these statistics on child poverty for Finland and the U.S. were good to know because they tell me that the U.S. should definitely follow Finland's footsteps in the organization of poverty. I think it is riduculous that our country has one of the highest poverty rates for children in the world and so many people move to this country from other countries because they think it will be a different and better life for them, but it could end of being worse because they could end up living in poverty.

I thought this information was interested and helpful. It showed me that the world needs to spend less on the military and more on trying to fix the poverty rates, especially in the U.S.
