I have been wary of blogging for quite some time and this is my first attempt since I left MySpace in annoyance and haven't considered coming back until now. My ideas on the goals of education are pretty standard for someone who wants to become a teacher - that a good education is central to mostly everything that we do and strive for and that our country need more of a focus on the quality of education that our people receive. I used to desire to become a college professor and still may, but I truly believe that most of the problems in our society stem from poor primary and secondary education, and I feel like I can make a difference. This is my first actual education class, and I expect to learn about different ideas behind effective teaching. I have been somewhat skeptical as to the effect of technology in our culture and the classroom, so I hope that this class will shed some light on how to use it as a tool effectively. I am intrigued by what I have seen so far. As for my preferred methodology, I have some experience with the paideia method from one of my teachers (and my mentor) in the past and plan on studying it more. It's the only method per se that I know of and I am very interested in it.
