Google and "Biodata" for recruitment

Looks like Google is discovering elements of the ePortfolio as a hiring tool, in this article by John Sullivan:

The goal was to identify all of the factors that predict future on-the-job performance and success.

The basic approach is quite simple. First, you survey current employees on a variety of characteristics and traits, including teamwork, biographical information, past experiences and accomplishments (i.e., have they started a company, written a book, won a championship, set a record).

Next, you statistically determine which of these many traits your top performers and most impactful employees' exhibit that differentiates them from bottom performing and average employees.

Finally, you develop an online survey to gather the predictive information from applicants. Then each candidate's biodata survey and resumes are screened electronically and given a score between zero and 100 based on how many of the top performance indicators each candidate possesses.

Here's an mp3 by way of preparation for my upcoming workshop in on January 17 in Winnipeg. The workshop is to help people get started digitizing appropirate evidence, then use Web 2.0 and other technologies (like ELGG). There are a lot of educators and career counsellors in the group, so I hope it will help create a bit of a groundswell.

I'm trying to figure out how to get it to display as that nice little Flash arrow that appears where I've got it uploaded in the file section...it's a toughie.

This is a partial example of an ePortfolio, focused on the needs of a training organization...

It's a subscription business model with additioanl costs per "seat" and per report.

I wonder...does the report belong to the agency or the client? Can the client use it in an ePortfolio that he/she does own?

Here's an example of false photographic evidence for a "house eportfolio", or online MLS listing.

Notice the two trees.
Notice how the tree on the left has no trunk and therefore seems to be floating in the air.
Notice how close the two houses are together and how the floating tree conceals the fact.

Salvador Dali?
Or an unsustainable marketing strategy?

Exploring del.icio.us for a Community of Practice

I'm now inside del.icio.us, seeing if I can use this to help practtitioners for regional development in Manitoba develop plans for supporting immigration to their regions.

I'm experimenting with the bundle function, to see if I can create a bundle of tags called MBRI that can contain meaningful tags to URLS which are helpful to this group.

I saw somewhere that I could make tags private, but don't see how...
