Chris McKillop :: Blog :: Stories, stories, stories...

September 01, 2005

I am a PhD student investigating the use of storytelling as a reflective tool in higher education. I stumbled across elgg when looking at what was going on in the Internet with blogging. As I am interested in narrative it's interesting to see how everyone is using elgg and blogs in general. I'm using a storytelling framework for discussions about assessment in my PhD (http://www.storiesabout.com). I'm also looking at students' visual representations of their experiences of assessment.

  1. I'm also a PhD candidate interested in narrative and pleased to report that Chris and I have become 'friends' via elgg. We have already corresponded and shared aspects of our research. If nothing else, this demonstrates the benefit of electronic networking and knowledge building.

  2. Yes, I'd second what Jim has said. I've been interested in elgg since I discovered it, but wasn't sure of its use to me. Now it is clear that electronic networking is becommingly increasingly important for researchers, so thanks to elgg for that. Hopefully, I will discover more benefits the more I use it.
