Imbarazzo

Shakespeare in Love is a romantic comedy film which won a number of Academy Awards in 1999.
The film is set in London during the reign of Elizabeth I and shows the rise of the first theatres.
The main characters are William ShakespeareFico (starring Joseph Fiennes) and Viola de Lesseps Bacio(starring Gwyneth Paltrow).
Source for much of the action in the film is the writing and acting of Romeo and Juliet, the tragedy that shows “the very truth and nature of love”  ©

Our class (3BR) watched the film in English and we outlined our comments in written form.. As well as live! –See our VIDEO (we did quickly…Imbarazzo.. but we enjoyed it!!) and add YOUR comments  Linguacciain the blog!

  1. I like the film “Shakespeare in love” because it tells about a difficul love story between a young woman and a poor young man. They fall in love but they know that theirs is an impossible story. I like these personages because both fight to stay together and at the end they do it but for a short period.I like the Queen too because she isn’t a bad and strict person in fact she likes that Viola, a lady, plays in the comedy.Giorgia 3^BR

  2. Viola and Will have strong personalities:

    - Viola is a hard, combative and fearless girl who decides to disguise herself as a man to play in a playhouse;.. she is able to overcome every type of circumstance and risk personally

-I like Will because he has an enterprising and optimistic character and he wouldn't let go ever.. I admire him for his firmness and his wish to continue, in spite of all problems and risks.. A person who knows what love means, who accepts his defeat and admits all his mistakes

I think it is very beautiful when Will says that he wouldn't see Viola die: this is the mark that love doesn't have an age.. Love is the most important and essential feeling and with it you can always "live" in all hearts.

  3. I thought that your film was very interesting and it looked like you worked very hard on it. Your english was very good. I do think that the music in the background was loud at times and it was hard to hear what you were saying because of the music but other than that the film was molto bene.

  5. My favourite sentence of the film “Shakespeare in love” is “You will never age for me, nor fade, nor die” because it’s a declaration of eternal love and the proof the love between Viola and Will is a great passion. Their relationship isn’t an adventure and it can win death. Their love story will be the poetic inspiration of  Will for ever.

My favourite character of the film is Viola. She’s very corageous because she has to marry Wessex but she wants to live her love story with Will in hiding. She knows she’s taking a big risk but she follows her two passions: Will and the theatre.

She’s a woman with a strong personality but at the same time she’s sweet, romantic and an incurable dreamer. Today it’s difficult to find a woman like her and I’d admire her very much.

I like the video “I love Shakespeare” because it shows our compitment for this initiative that before it was a school argoment (the Theatre) but then it became a personal experience. After we saw the film, we wrote our fellings and I was amazed because we committed our self very much. The video is a simple presentation of our work and I hope you appreciate it. I’d like to do another time a similar experience for we put to the test.

            Bye, Bye

  6.   I liked the film because the protagonists were fun; they acted very well and they were wearing beautiful clothes.  The music was amusing; the film was animated. Viola played as a man in the play and as a woman in the film. She fell in love with  will but their love finished badly. I didn’t like the end of the film because it was sad but these one emotions.

  7. We like the film so much because there is a fantastic love story between Will, the playwright, and Viola, a girl who loves theatre. We made this beautiful video to transmit you our emotions and opinions. We are happy that the love is different and free today but maybe it isn't forever. We tell you: "WATCH IT!!!"

  8. I like so much the sentence pronunced by Will when he has to leave Viola going away with her hated hausband.

He told her "YOU WILL NEVER AGE FOR ME,NOR FADE,NOR DIE".

This is a touching moment and I like it because only by reading the script again it transmits me all his suffering but at the same time the love that he feels for Viola.

  9. "Shakespeare in love" is a beautiful film because it really demonstrates the "very truth and nature of love". When love is real love you can fight against everything and nothing will be able to stop it.In fact William will always love Viola even if she has to go to the New World with Lord Wessex.

  10. Great job on your film.  It was very well done and it seems as if you put a lot of effort and time in it.  Also, your english was quite good.  I was a little confused with the random pictures of animals though.  All in all, nice work.    Good luck on future films!Risata
