Isn't it strange that just as I am formulating a project proposal in which I suggest that meta-tagging and social tagging should play an integral part that I should find this seemingly perfect fit!

I much prefer the idea of microcontent as described here as against the idea of a learning object. When I teach a course I couldn't describe any sub-section of what I do as a learning object but I would be happy to apply the concept of microcontent. It's the idea of being context free which worries me in a Learning object. I am always trying to place what I do in a context: I most certainly do want it to be context free.

What I would like to see now are some demo e-portfolios using ELGG. Any leads?

If this is meant to be accessible to all then you have to provide a more intuitive way of making hyperlinks and/or tell people how to do it. I guessed that you had to use html here and so on but many of the people I deal with would not even guess that they had to do that.

This is just to make a note of a website encouraging the use of Open Source in education IncSub
Another thought: So this weblog is my portfolio then? This means I shouldn't be using this as a chatting area but should be more professional and using this to structure my career planning and evidence of achievements so far? I am a little confused. Are groups and communities the same? At one point I had a list of communities showing but I can't recreate this. Is there a way of seeing a list of all the communities which exist? What about a membership list? I have already bumped into a few names I know (which is nice!) but is there a way of seeing a universal list?
I promise I will stop using my weblog as a discussion forum very soon. Keywords: communities, groups, member list Posted by Anne Fox | 6 comment(s) |
